Das Abgeordnetenhaus stimmt der Vorlage am mit 34 zu 2 Stimmen bei 1 Enthaltung zu, der Senat einstimmig am . Ministerpräsident Christie setzt die Abstimmung am an.

Das Diskriminierungsverbot in Art. 26 Abs. 3 und 5 bezieht sich neu auch auf das Geschlecht. Gleichgeschlechtliche Heiraten sind aber nicht möglich, da sich das Verbot laut Abs. 4 Bst. c nicht auf Heirat, Adoption, Scheidung usw. erstreckt.

(3) In this Article, the expression "discriminatory" means affording different treatment to different person attributable wholly or mainly to their respective descriptions by race, place of origin, political opinions, colour or creed , creed or sex whereby person of one such description are subjected to disabilities or restrictions to which person of another such description are not made subject or are accorded privileges or advantages which are not accorded to persons of another such description.
